Antique Bricks

Antique Bricks DIY Projects:

Do you have some old bricks lying around your property that just seem to be taking up space? Or maybe you want to do some outside landscaping, but don’t have an extravagant budget to work with. Instead of tossing those old bricks, reclaim them! And instead of shelling out thousands of dollars for some building projects, just do them yourself with reclaimed bricks. In this post, we will take a look at five creative brick DIY projects you can try simply by using antique bricks.

  1. A Fire Pit: If you don’t have an endless supply of antique bricks on hand, but you do, however, have a large enough backyard to install a fire pit, you can achieve a very charming look by constructing a homemade fire pit with bricks. There are many different ways that a brick fire pit could be built and one of the most popular (and probably easier) options is to build a thirty-six inch round pit. If you have never built a fire pit before, particularly one made out of bricks, don’t hesitate to ask a friend for some help or solicit the advice of building professionals.

  2. A Waterfall: This is another smaller project that won’t take as much time, money, or energy, but the end result is equally as stunning as any complex project. If you have a little nook area you can work with on the outside of your home or a space in your backyard garden, consider building a brick water fall area to add to the outdoor ambiance and create some extra curb appeal. Again, like building a fire pit, there are a couple of different ways you could build your very own water fall. You can take a look at the various methods others have used when building their brick after fall by researching more online or asking professionals builders for their help.
  3. Edging For Your Stone Walkway: If you have a walkway leading to the door of your home, garage, or around your backyard garden, why not lay some antique bricks to surround it? Installing a brick edge around your stone walkway gives the are an instantly cleaner and more sophisticated look. Doing this not only creates an added aesthetic appeal, it also offer functional benefits since the bricks acts to keep the stones from spilling over into your lawn, garden, or driveway.
  4. A Tree Ring: Many homeowners are familiar with large, beautiful trees that have less-than-beautiful roots exposed at the bottom. If you would like to cover up those large, veiny roots but are stumped on how, why not make a brick tree ring? Circle the tree with antique bricks the same way you would as if you were constructing a fire pit. Fill the brick circle around the tree with soil and plant some greenery or flowers of your choice. This not only covers up the roots, it dresses up the tree and the rest of the lawn quite nicely. Not to mention that if you have children, you won’t have to worry about them running and tripping over large tree roots when they are playing outside.
  5. A Birdbath: You don’t need many reclaimed bricks to construct this charming, classic piece. Add more life to your home and attract even more nature by installing a birdbath made entirely of antique bricks. You will just have to top it off with a large bowl to act as the bath area for the birds. A birdbath fits in nicely in a flower bed or garden.
