For many years, the standard for driveways has been concrete. However, just because something is standard does not necessarily mean that it is the best option for everyone. When considering having their driveway replaced, homeowners need to consider the pros and cons of each driveway option in order to determine which would be best for them. If you are looking for something a little more exciting than the norm, and that can boost your home’s curb appeal, you may want to consider the benefits of a brick paver driveway. Here are just a few of the reasons to consider brick driveway pavers for your new driveway.

Durable

Brick pavers are an extremely durable and long-lasting driveway material. Such pavers have been used for many years for the construction of walkways, driveways, and even roads due to their strength, which allows them to withstand heavy loads. Furthermore, paver driveways generally maintain their integrity for longer than concrete driveways. This is due to the fact that paver driveways are able to adjust to shifting and settling of the ground below them while maintaining their interlocking form. On the other hand, concrete driveways would crack, and eventually need to be replaced, under such circumstances. Paver driveways, however, will be able to withstand the elements for many years to come.

Easy to Repair

As was previously touched upon, when a concrete driveway becomes damaged, it is often necessary to replace the entire thing, which can end up being very expensive. However, with paver driveways it is simple to replace individual driveway paving bricks as they become damaged, which makes paver driveways much more cost-effective over the long run. Full driveway replacement would likely only be necessary should a large number of the pavers become worn or damaged, or if you are merely in the mood for a new look and want to switch out your pavers.

Easy to Maintain

Another benefit of brick paver driveways is that they are extremely low-maintenance. Once your paver driver is installed, there is little you will have to do to maintain its look and structural integrity. Should your pavers become dirty, or become stained due to an oil leak, they can be easily cleaned using water, soap, and a brush or a pressure washer. Even with such little maintenance, brick paver driveways will keep their look and strength for many generations to come.

Aesthetically Pleasing

One of the most common reasons for homeowners to choose driveway paving bricks over a traditional concrete driveway is due to the fact that they generally look better than concrete and can greatly complement your home. This is due to the fact that paver driveways come in a variety of shapes, colors, and installation designs. This allows you to have your driveway built in a way that will best match your home’s color, design and landscaping. This also allows you to personalize your driveway in a way that is best matches your design taste and your personality, which makes paver driveways much more exciting than bland concrete.

When considering what material to have your home’s driveway constructed out of, you will have several options to choose from. However, many homeowners find brick pavers to be the superior choice due to their unique beauty and their extreme durability. In fact, brick pavers are so durable that there are brick roads that have been in use for hundreds of years, which demonstrates the longevity of brick pavers. While there are many reasons to consider brick pavers for driveways, we have only been able to touch upon a few of them here. 2 thoughts on “Brick Driveway Pavers: The Many Reasons to Consider Paver Drivewaysmany reasons to consider a paver driveway,

  1. Pavers are good for improving permeability unless installers use polymeric sand which then makes the pavers impermable again. Installers site weeds and ants and moss as reasons they have to use polymeric sand. How can municipalities encourage permeable driveways to reduce stormwater runoff?

  2. Thanks Bill. Yes, this is a very important point! We only recommend our antique street paving bricks (as opposed to bricks reclaimed from building walls) be used for paving in any climates with freeze/thaw conditions. These have been tested and exceed the BIA standards. Thank you!
